Yangon – An upcoming organisation comprising of the top chefs in Myanmar is set to hold a series of culinary events and competitions in conjunction with Myanmar’s Biggest Food and Hotel Equipment and Supplies Exhibition – MYANFOOD/MYANHOTEL 2017.

The Myanmar Executive Chef Club is a newly formed entity which looks to increase and share knowledge of the culinary arts in the country, and consists of leading chefs from the top hotels and restaurants in Myanmar. The club has indicated its intent to work closely with the organisers of MYANFOOD/MYANHOTEL 2017 and looks to organise a series of exciting culinary competitions, demonstrations, and displays in various categories, through close cooperation and support from key sponsors in the foodservice industry in Myanmar.

Notable founding members include Chef Michel Louis Meca, the Group Executive Chef of Htoo Group of Companies, which owns leading hotel chains such as Kandawgyi Palace, Aureum Palace Hotels & Resorts, Myanmar Treasure Resorts, Malikha Lodge, and Popa Mountain Resort, Chef Rambaud Benjamin, Executive Pastry Chef of Vintage Luxury Yacht Hotel, Chef Brice Caro, Executive Chef of Novotel Yangon Max, Chef Florian Eberhakdt, Executive Chef of Savoy Hotel, Chef Gil Dumoulin, Executive Chef of Le Planteur Restaurant, and Chef Steven Twang, Executive Chef of Micasa Hotel Apartments.

Recognised since 2013 as the industry's biggest and most important international exhibition in Myanmar for the food and drinks industry, MYANFOOD/HOTEL Expo will be next held from 2-4 November 2017 at the MEP Exhibition Hall at Mindama, Yangon, and is your most comprehensive platform to showcase your business to the Myanmar market. Over 260 brands and companies from 18 countries are set to showcase their products to over 6,000 trade visitors of three show days.

The Asian Development Bank has reported an 8.4% growth in Myanmar's gross domestic product in 2016, and 2017 figures are projected to be 8.3%. This greatly puts the country ahead of all other countries in the Southeast Asian region in terms of economic growth. With a new leadership under Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's political party, a strong population of over 52 million people and a large proportion of its people in the working class, the country has great capability to maintain its rapid progress.

All this translates into a robust growing economy and rising incomes among the mainstream population, which will fuel demand for a wider variety of food and drink products.

Whether your objective is to conduct market feasibility studies, seek local partners and distributors, increase existing market share in Myanmar, or simply just to maintain relationships with key clients while looking for new opportunities with foreign partners, you can be certain to meet your objectives at MYANFOOD 2017.
